One can survive everything, nowadays, except death, and live down everything except good reputation.
In the topside world, all is interpreted in the light of simple gains and losses. In the underworld, all is interpreted in light of the mysteries of true sight, right action, and becoming a person of intense inner strength and knowing.
Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Coffees in the Mind
I’m never in any danger, whether an angry mob – what is it? guts me – whether an angry mob guts me or not. Whether I break my neck in a motorcycle accident or not. Whether all the peoples and nations of the world rise up against me or not. If the universe wants me gutted and dumped in the desert, I’m all for it, and if it doesn’t, no mob or government or law of physics is going to make it happen. Those are the fixed and absolute terms of my existence. It’s not what I believe, it’s just what is. I don’t know how to say it any better.
